by Dick Gagnon One of the ways the NHCCM is working for each of your stations is by organizing, training, and supervising, indivuals to record, edit, and distribute the State of NH House Sessions beginning in January. We hopefully will also be doing the same for the Senate sessions. The Board of the NHCCM decided some months ago that we need to make sure that PEG Access is well known,m and well liked, at the State House. The Legislation Committee has met with State Representative Raymond Gagnon, of Claremont, to see how we can work with him to inform the legislators about the importance of protecting PEG Access in our state.
Representative Teri Norelli, Speaker of the House Some people think that a Statewide Franchise Agreement is the way to go. But, after watching and talking with other access individuals from other states that have such agreements it is felt that is not the way to go. The Committee is following closely what the Maine CTAM group is doing with legislation to have a Franchise Agreement template that towns couod use in their negotiations with their cable companies. We felt we needed to educate our State Reps about PEG. Taping the House and Senate Sessions will be one way that they will know about us. If you are interested in receiving the tapings send me an email at

and I will add your name to the distribution list. For those that have download capabilities we will be uploading it to Pegmedia.org. For others we will be sending out DVD copies. Downloading will be the quickest and easiest for you. One of the other things we will be doing to help inform our Representatives about PEG access is by giving them the opportunity to sit in front of our camera and give a 5 minute talk about whatever issue they feel passionate about that is going on in the House. It will not be for political campaigning, but for informing their constituents about the current issues. This will be a special show we put together and distribute. Now, here is where we also need your help. Yup! You saw it coming. What we need is for each station to make sure that all their State Reps are signed up to receive this newsletter via email from the NHCCM if possible. You can easily do this by emailing Dottie Grover at

or by forwarding them yourself to your Reps. The NHCCM has some very nice brochures that introduce people to what we are all about. Dottie would be happy to send you some of those as well. If your PEG Access station's contract renewal is coming up you may want to contact Dottie to see about having the NHCCM talk to your town negotiating team before they begin so that they can find out what is available to them.
